Because every time I give a talk on “Ways Your Bathroom Can Change Your Life“, I get all sorts of angry tweets and emails from people who think I’m judging them for not being perfect.
Here’s the thing: I’m not judging anyone. I’m simply sharing what works for me. And if it works for me, it can work for other people too.
Believe it or not, there are several ways that your bathroom can have a positive impact on your daily routine.
The bathroom is often the most neglected space in the house, but it may be the most important one for self-improvement. This is because it is in this room that we have our closest encounters with ourselves. It is here that we confront our own shortcomings and face our fears.
This is one of the very few places where we are away from electronic screens and the constant barrage of distractions. It is a place where we can be alone with our thoughts, and it is a space where we are forced to confront our own reflections.
During my high school days, my family used to tease me about why I spent so much time in the bathroom. Little did they know that it was my thinking room, my sanctuary, and the place where I did some of my best work.
My reply to them was always straightforward- “Bathroom is my best thinking place” for which they mostly gave a blank look.
If you’re not using your bathroom for self-improvement, then you’re missing out on a powerful opportunity.

See yourself in your mind’s eye achieving everything you’ve ever wanted. Visualize it in as much detail as possible.

Who is there with you?
What are you wearing?
The more realistic you can make the visualization, the better.
Wanna know how I do this?
I stand below the shower with the water running down my chest and head, and I close my eyes and visualize what it would feel like to have already achieved my goal.
I see myself in as much detail as possible. I feel the emotions of happiness, joy, love, and gratitude. I am surrounded by family and friends who are congratulating me. We are all celebrating my success.
Take a few minutes each day to close your eyes and visualize yourself achieving your goals. Give it a try and see how it affects your life.
6. It can be a place to plan your day
You can make great things happen every day when you plan your day well. When you take the time to think about what you want to achieve for the day, you are more likely to make it happen.
In the morning, before you start your day, you should spend a few minutes in the bathroom. Stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself what you are going to achieve that day.
At the end of the day, go back to your mirror, and take a few minutes to think about how your day went. Did you achieve everything you set out to do? If not, why not?
Talk to yourself, be honest, and be grateful for the things you did achieve. Then make a new plan for the next day.
